The Communicator was a publication of the Star Trek and Science Fiction Club of South Bend, whose editorial board included several IU South Bend students. A letter to the editor in the first issue (the only held by the IUSB Archives) identifies The Communicator as “a work of love from a group of people who are dedicated to seeing science fiction and fantasy take their place along other mainstreams (sic) currents of contemporary thought.”
