Caption
  • Reverend Rich (RICHARD PRYOR), a charlatan whose preoccupation is money. Universal's "Car Wash," is a cinematic look, observed with warmth, humor and drama, at the kaleidoscope of motley people -- the manual workers, the owner, the owner's son, the cashier, the food concessionaires, the passersby and the car owners -- whose lives inter-mesh briefly during a typical day in which dusty, begrimed automobiles are transformed into pristine, shining vehicles, American symbols of power, mobility and speed. Produced by Art Linson and Gray Stromberg, the screenplay by Joel Schumacher weaves together the lives of the colorful characters, then loosens the skeins to send them on their separate ways. Michael Schultz directed the Universal film which stars a gallery of gifted actors, most of whom are relatively unknown to moviegoers, and spotlights an array of established players as guest stars.
