- This image scanned from the cover of the December 5, 1949 issue of "Telecasting" (Broadcasting, Telecasting). WTTV went on the air on November 11, 1949. When this happened, Bloomington, Indiana became the smallest city in the United States with its own television station. It was also the second city in the State of Indiana with a television station. WFBM in Indianapolis was the first, and WSBT in South Bend was the third. Also, WTTS went on the air on March 11, 1949. It was dedicated at the IU Auditorium on March 25, 1949. Hoagy Carmichael (Class of 1926) participated in the dedication.
