  • Cotton Comes to Harlem: Story-in-Pictures -- Cotton Comes to Harlem, a Samuel Goldwyn, Jr., presentation stars Godfrey Cambridge, Raymond St. Jacques and Calvin Lockhart in a fast-moving crime drama based on a novel by Chester Himes. Ossie Davis directed from a screenplay he wrote with Arnold Perl. Music is by Galt MacDermot. The film was shot on the streets of Harlem, locale of the Himes story. It is released by United Artists, an entertainment service of Transamerica corporation, and is in Color by DeLuxe. Grave Digger Jones (Godfrey Cambridge) left, rear, and Coffin Ed Johnson (Raymond St. Jacques) two of the toughest police detectives in Harlem, take on a group of black militants during a donnybrook at a fund-raising rally held by the Reverend Deke O'Malley.
