- Fleming's description typed on reverse side of image reads, in full: "Here she lies in Div Ordinance for salvage, not much of a loss to Uncle San for she'd covered 23,000 miles and better and been in the scrap since Normandy. But the very day before the wreck we'd gotten her fixed up as near as new as possible with a through 6,000 mi check and paint job. The Peep we got later from Corps was another old rundown job, so we had to begin the face-lifting all over again. Near Gotha, Ger -- 28 June 45."
