It was on a mission over the nearby Leuna synthetic oil plant that my friend since grade school days, Bob Campbell, was shot down. Most of his crew members parachuted, were taken prisoner, and subsequently released. But Bob was not heard from. Merseburg, Ger -- 6 May 45"
