Caption
  • Bernie Casey portrays all-star great Maurice Stokes in "Maurire." "MAURIE" is the true story of the incredible relationship between Maurice Stokes and Jack Twyman, both all-star professional athletes. Following a near fatal injury to Stokes, Twyman obtained legal custody of his teammate and over the next ten years managed to raise $1 million dollars. Twman's heroic efforts were more than matched by Maurice's Herculean comeback. Co-starring Bernie Casey as Maurice Stokes, Bo Swenson as Jack Twyman, Janet MacLachlan as Maurie's fiancee, Dorothy, and Stephanie Edwards as Twyman's wife, Carol, "MAURIE" was produced by Frank Ross and Douglas Morrow from a screenplay by Morrow. Daniel Mann directed the National General Pictures release.
