Description
  • A leaf from a fourteenth-century paper copy of a commentary on Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics, a philosophical treatise of significant interest in the European Middle Ages. This leaf comes from a copy of the commentary produced in Erfurt in 1365. The volume was acquired and dispersed by Otto Ege. The binding of the volume is in the Beinecke Library with Ege's personal collection. Other leaves from the original volume were included in Ege's "Original Leaves from Famous Books: Eight Centuries" portfolios as well as the "Original Leaves from Famous Books: Nine Centuries" portfolios such as this one. This leaf contains a passage from Albertus Magnus' Super Ethica, as well as a commentary, possibly on that same text.
