Many of the items are from the Seymour Document Collection, donated to Knox College by George Seymour (1878-1945) and Flora Seymour (1888-1948). This collection includes a wide range of manuscripts, documents, and autographed items in various languages dated between approximately 1260-1822. George Steele Seymour and Flora Warren Seymour founded the Order of the Bookfellows, a national literary and book arts appreciation society. Other items come from separate donations by Harriet Robbins Moses (1888-1973), Knox class of 1912, and Edward (1861-1949) and Lucy Smith Morse Caldwell (1864-1941), both graduates of Knox College in 1886.
