  • Fleming's description typed and written on the reverse side of the image reads, in full: "After the party on the Russian side finished, all returned to the US side for the farewells. Gen. Hodges, easily recognized, represents the US 1st Army, and Gen. Zhadov, don't know which he is, represents the Russian 5th Army. The US Correspondents were so drunk that few could stand, let alone answer any questions. The Russian photographer on the right, using an Eymo identical to ours, having special permission to film high Russian officers on this occasion is making every moment count. If need be he'd knock you down and step on you to get his shots. Torgau, Ger -- 30 April 45."
