- Description
- Portable Bible with prologues ascribed to Saint Jerome produced in northern France during the second quarter of the thirteenth century. At the end of the volume, the Interpretation of Hebrew Names (version beginning "Aaz apprehendens," ascribed to Stephen Langton), sermon notes, a Calendar, and a list of contents (in a later hand) are included. The calendar includes a feast day (March 1) for Saint Siviardi, abbot at Saint-Calais located in the Pays de la Loire region, suggesting that this volume was produced for an audience also situated in northern France. A note in the lower margin of fol. 643v clarifies that the ending of the Interpretation can be found after a gap of three folios (on fol. 647r). Marginalia found throughout in multiple hands, with a fifteenth century hand adding Deuteronomy 32:1-43 to fols. 478r-479r.
